Reminder: You Can View CoursePlus with a Dyslexic-Friendly Font

August 25, 2021 | 1 Minute Read

The CoursePlus team and the Center for Teaching and Learning are deeply committed to making the tools and content in CoursePlus as accessible as possible to those with any kind of disability or impairment. Content produced by CTL includes a full accessibility review, online lecture PDFs are fully readable by screen readers, interactive transcripts are provided, and much work has been done to make the CoursePlus interface more friendly to assistive devices.

Back in July, 2020, the CoursePlus team announced that you can tell CoursePlus to use a dyslexia-friendly font whenever possible. OpenDyslexic is a font widely used to mitigate contrast/blindness, letter confusion or rotation, and crowding. Many students are still unaware of this option, so we’re posting again about the topic to help increase awareness.

How do you enable this option?

  1. Sign in to CoursePlus
  2. Click “Edit My CoursePlus Account” on the left
  3. Click “CoursePlus Preferences”
  4. Select the “Use a dyslexic-friendly font where possible in CoursePlus” option
  5. Click “Update My CoursePlus Preferences”

We hope that this feature makes CoursePlus a more friendly — and accessible — place to anyone who has challenges with letterforms. As always, if you have any questions about how this feature works, please contact CTL Help!
