Faculty and TAs Can Now Fully Manage LiveTalks via Schedule Builder

July 16, 2024 | 1 Minute Read

LiveTalks are an essential component of most online courses in CoursePlus. Scheduling these sessions, however, could be a bit tedious, as faculty or their TAs had to fill out a form for each session and wait for those events to be added to the course schedule. Once all LiveTalks were posted on the course schedule, they had to be synchronized with the LiveTalk page in the class website. A tedious process indeed.

We’re pleased to announce that faculty and TAs can fully manage the scheduling of all LiveTalks from within Schedule Builder itself. Previously, CTL instructional designers would have to add LiveTalks to the course schedule. Faculty and TAs could then edit the title or description, but nothing else.

Now, faculty and TAs can make all needed changes themselves. Any time a LiveTalk event is added, updated, or deleted, that information is automatically synchronized with the LiveTalk page in the course website. Delays waiting for the LiveTalk page to be updated by a CTL team member are a thing of the past.

The synchronization of information about LiveTalks goes beyond adding, updating, or deleting LiveTalk events in Schedule Builder. If you hide or show individual LiveTalk events on the schedule, that affects their display on the LiveTalk page in the class website. The same goes for hiding or showing schedule categories as well.

The CTL instructional design team created a detailed guide for setting up and running LiveTalks. The CoursePlus faculty guide is also up-to-date with instructions on managing LiveTalk events in Schedule Builder. You can, of course, reach out to your course instructional designer for one-on-one help!

As always, if you have questions about this change, please reach out to the CTL Help team, and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
