Problem with LiveTalk, Flash, and Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

August 16, 2011 | 0 Minute Read

Apple recently released version 10.7 of the Mac OS X operating system, code-named "Lion." There is one very important issue that those of you who may be moving to Lion need to know about:

Mac OS X 10.7 breaks the Flash plug-in's security permissions panel. This is the window that pops up when you first go into a LiveTalk and run the Audio Setup Wizard (or otherwise try to use your microphone). It's the small window that asks "Allow breeze.jhsph.edu to access your camera and microphone?"

No matter what you do, you will not be able to select "Allow" or "Deny" in Mac OS X 10.7. Fixing this problem requires an update to the Flash plug-in which Adobe released today (August 10). So if you're running OS X 10.7 (Lion), you need to update your Flash plug-in immediately.
