How Do I See the Current Grades for Students in My Class?

April 02, 2018 | 1 Minute Read

Knowing how students are performing in your class and targeting interventions with students who may be struggling is a key practice in ensuring success for all students. If you use the Gradebook in your CoursePlus site, you can see how students are performing in the class at any time by using one of these two methods:

First, you can look at the student view of the Gradebook for any student in your class. To do this:

1. Go to the Gradebook, and click on the "By Student" tab on the main Gradebook page.

2. At the top of each "Enter Grades by Student" page, there is a button that takes you to that student's view of the Gradebook in your course. Click that button:

3. At the top of the page, the current overall grade for the student will be displayed.

Alternatively, you can use the "Prepare Final Grade" view in the Gradebook to see all current grades for all students in the class at one time. Note that even if your Gradebook is based on points, the Final Grades page will convert that number into a percentage value. That's because the Final Grades page works only on percentages (for now).

In the old Gradebook, the Final Grades page used to show you the student's grade as if they received a zero for any items not currently graded in the Gradebook. That made it difficult to determine how all students were doing at, say, the mid-term point in the class. The Final Grades page now only shows the student grade based on the grades that have been entered for them in the Gradebook up to that moment in time. As such, you can view the current grade for all students in your class at any point in the term by going to the "Prepare Final Grade" view in the Gradebook.
