Before you can export to mp3 format on a PC, you have to establish your export settings. These will apply to all of your subsequent recordings, and do not have to be set again. 1. Open the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  2. Preferences

  3. Click the File Formats tab, then the Find Library button.
  4. FormatsLibrary

  5. Click Yes that you want to locate the library file, which converts the file to MP3 format. You will only have to locate the library file the first time you export to mp3.
  6. Yes

  7. When you locate the file, click Open.
  8. Open

  9. Use the Bit Rate drop down menu to set the Bit Rate to 48, the best level for audio playback, then click OK.

Now that you have recorded your audio and installed the LAME MP3 converter, you can export your audio to MP3 format so that it can be posted online.

  1. Under Audacity's File menu, choose Export as MP3.
  2. Choose the location where you want to save the file and click Save.
  3. Save
